Providing Children Forensic Interview Services

According to the National Children’s Alliance, “Forensic interviews are conducted in a manner that is legally sound, of a neutral, fact-finding nature, and are coordinated to avoid duplicative interviewing.” The purpose of a forensic interview is to preserve a child’s statements for use in assessing safety, criminal allegations, and treatment needs. In order to preserve the child’s statements, interviews are digitally recorded and are also observed by investigative partners (often Department of Human Services Child Protective Service Workers or Law Enforcement). Forensic interviews are conducted by Interviewers who are specially trained to talk to children of all ages and developmental levels and provided so children can share their stories in a safe, trauma-informed setting. Forensic Interviewers work with the Medical Examiners as part of the full assessment process.
